Case Study Braemore Road


  • Location: Braemore Road, Hove
  • Aspect: West
  • Brief: A family garden incorperating an above ground swimming pool. Disposal of the existing old shed was required as well as a new seating area to catch the sun, a large lawn and an oasis of planting to enclose the entire garden providing privicy. The garden must be child friendly.
The Process
  • Initial Consoltation: A meeting with the owners was scheduled and a design questionaire completed. Any ideas the customers had were discussed. These included any limitations, expectations and use of the garden. A budget was given.


  • Design: The materials to be used were researched including paving, plants, wood etc. and presented back to the customers. Planting styles and personal likes/dislikes were discussed. A scaled design was produced including annotations and detailed descriptions. An estimate was submitted for the complete transformation of the garden - including clearance, hard and soft landscaping, labour and materials. This was accepted and a commencement date was arranged.
  • Preparation: A digger and breaker were required to remove the old crazy paving and walls. It took four builders skips to get rid of the waste!

  • Transformation The design was marked out. Hard landscaping began - leveling, concrete base for new shed and swimming pool, drainage, a decking circle, two pergolas, bespoke shed, new paving slabs, fencing, gate and four tonnes of organic top soil. Plants were sourced and bought. Plants were positioned first and then planted. New turf followed. Final stages were undertaken including the installation of outdoor lighting.



  • Outcome: A beautiful family garden safe for the children to play and adults to relax in.
